The federal authority for identity, citizenship, customs, and port security announced the exemption of foreign residents located in the United Arab Emirates from all fines for violating the law on entry and residence of foreigners as of April 15, 2023.

Exemption of Sudanese nationals in the country from the fines of the "Residence Law":

The list of groups protected from fines of citizens of the brotherly Republic of Sudan located in the UAE includes those who have expired visas, residents with expired residence cards, persons in office, and anyone whose deadline for leaving the UAE has passed. According to the established conditions and restrictions in this regard, certain categories are immune from fines if they wish to extend visas, renew residence or leave the country.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the authority, stressed the close historical relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Sudan, and the keenness of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates to extend a helping hand to the friendly Sudanese people and help them in a safe escape from the current ordeal they are going through.

He emphasized that the decision to exempt the Sudanese brothers in the UAE from the fines incurred by them in case of violation of the law of entry and residence of foreigners stems from the noble orientations and values of the UAE and reflects the keenness of the authority to reconcile the conditions of the Sudanese brothers in the country to ensure a stable life for them. Taking into account the dimensions and humanitarian conditions experienced by their country, he said,

For its part, the Sudanese embassy in the UAE made a public statement thanking the UAE's leadership for their kindness towards the Sudanese community. They also thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as all other pertinent institutions and authorities in the nation for their sincere efforts to accommodate and resolve the situation of Sudanese citizens in the UAE.
