Within the framework of its strategy to enhance its financial performance, the national airline of Oman has made adjustments to the destinations it serves as well as the frequency of its flights to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

According to Oman Air, the airline has decided to discontinue its flights to Islamabad, Lahore, Colombo, and Chittagong, but it has expanded its network to include the city of Sialkot in Pakistan.

Reduce the frequency of flights

Additionally, it will decrease the frequency of flights to specific markets along the Indian route, while simultaneously increasing the capacity of flights to two existing destinations, namely Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram.

Resuming flights to five cities in India

SalamAir, a company based in Oman, made the announcement in November 2023 that it would resume flights to five important cities in India. These cities were Hyderabad, Calicut, Jaipur, Trivandrum, and Lucknow. Flights were halted "due to the limitation of flight rights allocations to India," as the situation was described.

The Gulf countries and the Indian Subcontinent are geographically close to one another, which contributes to the high volume of air traffic between the two regions. Additionally, the Arabian Gulf countries are home to a significant number of South Asians who have made their homes there.

Operating flights to three locations

In addition, Oman Air has announced that it will operate flights to three locations on a seasonal basis. These destinations will include Trabzon during the summer season, Zurich and Malé during the winter season, and Malé according to the need for passenger traffic.

Starting this summer, Oman Air has also implemented initiatives to optimize its timetable in order to maximize efficiency. According to the Gulf carrier, flight timings have been altered for several of its destinations in order to better cater to the Omani market and service important flows into and out of Oman. The airline has placed an emphasis on more favorable slots in order to offer greater convenience for direct customers and maximize connection windows.

To ensure that the country's economy and social goals receive the greatest possible benefits, the airline has stated that it will adopt a strategy that will allow it to adapt to the shifting market dynamics and opportunities.
