Mwasalat, Oman's national transport organization, recently made the eagerly anticipated announcement that bus services to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will resume on October 1.

Mwasalat resumes bus services from Oman to the UAE.

Following a temporary suspension of services due to the COVID-19 epidemic, this decision is a major step toward reestablishing contact between the people of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, particularly in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Service Details

Mwasalat's resumed bus services will reestablish travel connections between Muscat and the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, as well as Al Ain. Notably, before the temporary suspension, Mwasalat provided services between Dubai and Muscat, contributing to convenient intercity travel.

Ticket pricing and allowances

Travelers interested in this service can secure a one-way ticket from Muscat to Abu Dhabi for OMR11.5 (equivalent to Dh109). Additionally, passengers are entitled to a generous luggage allowance of 23 kilograms, along with a hand baggage allowance of 7 kilograms.

Traveler Feedback

The resumption of bus services has received positive feedback from individuals like Ateeq Ahmed, a businessman based in Abu Dhabi who frequently travels to Muscat. Ahmed expressed relief, stating that the reintroduction of this service from Abu Dhabi is highly beneficial. He highlighted the difficulties faced during the temporary suspension period, including high airfare and overbooked buses from Dubai. With this new development, Ahmed anticipates a smoother journey, reducing travel time to Muscat to approximately five hours.

Travel Duration

For reference, Google Maps suggests that the journey from Abu Dhabi to Muscat typically takes around 4 hours and 47 minutes. However, travelers like Prasad, who frequently commute between Oman and the UAE, advise accounting for immigration procedures and other services, which may extend the journey to approximately six hours.

Enhanced travel opportunities

The resumption of bus services has generated enthusiasm among travelers, as it not only facilitates convenience but also offers scenic routes. Prasad highlighted the scenic beauty of the journey, emphasizing that tourists from Oman can explore Abu Dhabi's attractions, while UAE residents can experience the picturesque landscapes of Oman without incurring significant expenses.

Mwasalat's decision to restart its bus services between Oman and the UAE signifies a positive development for travelers seeking cost-effective and accessible transportation options between these two neighboring nations. This announcement is expected to enhance the travel experience for individuals like Ateeq Ahmed, opening up opportunities for smoother and more convenient journeys while enjoying the scenic beauty of the route.
