During the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, authorities in Dubai were able to capture nine of them

Since the beginning of the anti-begging operation in the middle of March, the Dubai Police Department has been successful in apprehending 319 beggars (167 males and 152 females) in various sections of the emirate.

During the holiday break for Eid al-Fitr, nine of these beggars were taken into custody.

Over 300 people were arrested in Dubai

The Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, Major General Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, declared that the 'Begging is a Wrong Concept of Compassion' anti-begging campaign aims to limit the number of beggars and street peddlers who take advantage of the sympathies and sympathy of others.

Al Jallaf noted that begging poses a risk to the safety and security of society, as well as to the properties and the image of the country. He added that begging can have major repercussions, such as thefts and robberies, as well as the exploitation of minors, the sick, and adults who are determined for unethical advantages.

He stressed that individuals might seek financial aid from governmental bodies, charitable organisations, and associations, all of which are available to them. He reminded the general public that, according to Federal Law No. 9 of 2018, which was passed in order to combat begging, begging is against the law and is punished.

Al Jallaf asked the public not to react to the pleadings of beggars, show pity or sympathy for their look, and aid the police by reporting any beggars promptly using the call centre (901), or the "Police Eye" service that is available on the Dubai Police smart app. Al Jallaf also advised the public not to show pity or sympathy for the appearance of beggars.

Additionally, he cautioned the community against falling for false electronic messages sent by beggars via social media and email. He urged members of the public to disregard such messages and report them through the e-Crime platform, which can be found at www.ecrime.ae.
