Dubai Metro Red Line: Four Stations Remain Closed in Latest Update

Asma Ahmed - | UAE

Residents all around Dubai are still dealing with the effects of the ongoing interruptions to the Metro system, which occurred after the UAE had tremendous rains last week.

Following unprecedented rainfall in the UAE last week, Dubai Metro services continue to experience disruptions, impacting commuters across the city. Operations nearly ground to a halt, leaving numerous passengers stranded at various stations.

Despite the resumption of Red Line operations in both directions, the metro still does not serve certain stations such as Onpassive, Equiti, Al Mashreq, and Energy. However, according to the latest update from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Dubai Metro is now operational between Centrepoint and Expo 2020, as well as UAE Exchange stations.

The RTA has provided guidance for commuters traveling from the Centrepoint Metro station, emphasizing the necessity of transferring at either Business Bay or Al Khail stations. From there, passengers are required to utilize shuttle buses to reach their intended destination.

The morning commute on Monday witnessed a significant influx of passengers at the Red Business Bay Metro Station (Al Safa side). This surge in traffic volume also resulted in increased congestion on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Al Safa toll gate, particularly heading towards the World Trade Center.

To navigate these disruptions effectively, the RTA advises commuters to adhere to instruction signage displayed at metro stations and to seek assistance from Dubai Metro staff when needed. These measures aim to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers amidst the ongoing challenges faced by the Dubai Metro system.

The RTA's prompt response and continuous updates demonstrate its commitment to addressing the needs of commuters and mitigating the impact of adverse weather conditions on transportation services. By providing alternative routes and transportation options, the RTA aims to minimize inconvenience and facilitate smooth travel experiences for residents and visitors alike.
