Ahmed Moawad - | UAE

Following the conclusion of the meteorological depression that the nation was recently subjected to, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has issued fresh judgments about the most recent changes in the state of the roads in the emirate.

Traffic movement has partially returned to normal

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority announced that traffic movement has partially returned to normal on Airport Road in both directions near the Centrepoint Metro Station.

In addition to the complete return of traffic movement on Al Nahda Street towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

The authority also announced the complete return of traffic at the intersection of Al Khawaneej Street and Algeria Street.

It is noteworthy that Dubai Roads announced yesterday the return of the Dubai Metro service on the Red Line at the Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Financial Center, and Business Bay stations.

Metro service affected

The Roads and Transport Authority in the UAE had announced the impact of the metro service from the UAE Exchange station to the Dubai Internet City station, due to the unstable weather conditions, for users of the Dubai Metro Red Line.

The UAE witnessed the largest amounts of rain in its modern history during the past 24 hours, in many regions, and it is the largest amount since the beginning of recording climate data in 1949.

This rain that struck the UAE yesterday, Tuesday, is an exceptional event in the climatic history of the UAE since the beginning of recording climate data, and it is expected that the coming hours will witness recording greater amounts of rain.

Postponing local sports matches

The security services in the UAE were forced to postpone local sports matches and take preventive measures to reduce the negative effects on citizens and residents.

The heavy rains also caused the closure of roads, the breakdown of vehicles, and the delay of flights, in addition to transferring work and study to the electronic system remotely. At Dubai Airport, several planes appeared flying amidst the water that had collected in large quantities.

Traffic returns on Airport Road

The Authority also confirmed that traffic movement has returned in both directions on Airport Street near the Centrepoint Metro Station. Additionally, the Authority confirmed that traffic movement has returned in its entirety on Al Nahda Street in the direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Furthermore, the Authority confirmed that traffic movement has returned in its entirety at the intersection of Algeria Street and Al Khawaneej Street also returned in its entirety.

The opening of Sheikh Zayed Road to motorists from the Trade Center roundabout to Intersection No. (9) "Sheikh Zayed Road with the intersection of Al Maktoum Airport Road" in the direction of Abu Dhabi was also confirmed by her. However, she took note of the fact that there may be delays on certain lanes due to the removal and disposal of pools of water.
