The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security revealed the procedures and conditions necessary to obtain green residency for a skilled worker.
Green residence:
The green residence visa represents one of the developed visa systems since 2021, as this visa enables the expatriate to obtain residency to work without a guarantor, host or employer in the country, from the category of skilled workers, according to the professional classification and standards approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It also allocated a salary of 15,000 dirhams or its equivalent in foreign currencies.
The Authority required self-employed/private employers to fulfill the following requirements:
1. Obtaining a self-employment/private work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation
2. The minimum educational level must be a bachelor’s degree, a specialized diploma, or its equivalent.
3. The applicant’s annual income from self-employment for the previous two years must not be less than 360,000 dirhams or its equivalent in foreign currencies, or he must prove his financial solvency throughout his stay in the country.
While the skilled worker is required to follow the following steps:
1. To obtain a work permit in the country under a valid employment contract in the country.
2. He must be a skilled worker at the first, second, or third professional level of the professions classification approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
3. The minimum educational level must be a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
Specialized accommodation:
It is one of the types of golden residency, as the Authority grants it to expatriate workers with special talents in the fields of knowledge and science. It is valid for a period of 10 years and can be renewed according to the conditions approved by the Authority to obtain it, the expatriate must fulfill the following requirements:
• Scientists must be accredited by the Emirates Council of Scholars, or winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence.
• Applicants working in the field of culture and arts must be accredited by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.
• Investors applying for Golden Residency have patent evaluations, provided that their invention adds maximum value to the economy in the UAE, and must obtain approval from the Ministry of Economy.
• Document any exceptional talents through patents or publication in globally recognized journals.
• Executives applying for this visa must own a well-known company whose founder is considered a leader on a global scale.
While doctors and specialists are required to fulfill at least two of the following conditions:
• They must have a doctoral degree from a university listed in the top 500 universities in the world, and they must have work experience in this field for at least 10 years.
• The applicant physician must obtain a special award or certificate of appreciation for work in his field
• The applicant physician must have contributed significantly to scientific research.
• The applicant must have an article or scientific book published in their field in one of the famous presses.
• The applicant must be a member of a respected organization specialized in his field of work.
