Sheikh Hamdan announces free accommodation, food and pest control in Dubai as part of Dubai's recovery plan

In the wake of unprecedented rainfall that caused significant disruption across Dubai, the emirate has unveiled a comprehensive relief package to support affected communities. The initiative, spearheaded by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, reflects the city's commitment to swift and effective crisis response.

"Guided by the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum," Sheikh Hamdan remarked, "Dubai has always been prepared to tackle any challenge head-on. Our robust response mechanisms are further strengthened by the unwavering support of both the government and the community."

Prioritizing Residents' Needs:

Following a meeting with government entity heads, Sheikh Hamdan announced a series of measures aimed at alleviating the immediate hardships faced by residents. A dedicated committee tasked with reviewing requests from Emirati citizens impacted by the heavy rains will be established. This committee will prioritize the repair and rehabilitation of affected residents' homes.

Collaboration for Recovery:

The Land Department and the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) will collaborate with property developers to expedite the restoration of normalcy in managed communities. Residents can expect the following support, free of charge, from all residential management companies and real estate developers:

  • Temporary accommodation: Alternative housing will be provided to residents whose homes are currently uninhabitable.
  • Food distribution: Essential food supplies will be distributed within affected communities.
  • Pest control services: Comprehensive pest control measures will be implemented to ensure public health and safety.
  • Enhanced security: Increased security patrols will be deployed to safeguard affected neighborhoods.
  • Cleaning and repair assistance: Residents will receive support with returning to their homes, including interior cleaning services.
  • Insurance guidance: Authorities will assist residents in monitoring and documenting rain-related damages for insurance claims.
  • Risk assessment: Experts will be available to assess potential risks to properties.

Assessing the Situation:

The meeting, which also included Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, served as a platform to evaluate the ongoing recovery efforts. Dubai's swift and comprehensive response plan aims to minimize the impact of the extreme weather event and ensure a smooth return to normalcy for its residents.
