UAE Authority announces a new speed limit on Fujairah main and internal roads

Asma Ahmed - | UAE

The General Police Command, with the Fujairah Police Department as its primary agency, has lowered the posted speed limit on a number of the emirates' internal roads.

The speed limit will be lowered on some roads and raised on others as a result of these modifications.

Speed Limit Adjustments in the Emirates

The decision to ease speed limits on several important routes within the Emirates was made by the General Police Command. Some sections of the Emirates' domestic road system will have their speed limits reduced. Simultaneously, the Fujairah Police Department has began enforcing revised speed limits on certain roads, with some limits being dropped and others being raised.

Fujairah Police's Speed Revisions

The Fujairah Police General Command embarked on a comprehensive analysis to determine the most effective means of enhancing road safety. Following their investigation, they made the strategic decision to increase the speed limit on Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Road, elevating it from 81 kilometers per hour to 91 kilometers per hour.

The goal of this action is to increase regional road safety. In contrast, in an effort to improve road conditions throughout the emirate, the speed limit on the internal Murbah Road was lowered from 101 km/h to 91 km/h.

New Speed Limits for Fujairah Roads

The city of Fujairah has now enforced updated speed limits for its road network. These newly defined speed limits were determined by radar and apply to areas within Fujairah City, including Corniche, Fujairah, Saif Bin Hamad, Madhab, Kuwait, and internal roads, where the speed limit is set at 91 kilometers per hour. The Fujairah Port area to Murbah road and the Murbah area road both have a speed limit of 141 kilometers per hour.

The Qidfaa Ring Road has a speed limit of 121 kilometers per hour, while the road from Al Bidiya to Dibba Al Fujairah operates at 121 kilometers per hour. In the city of Dibba Al Fujairah, street speed limits are at 91 kilometers per hour, and the road from Dibba Al Fujairah to Masafi maintains a limit of 121 kilometers per hour.

Enhancing road safety

The rationale behind altering speed limits in Fujairah is underpinned by a commitment to enhancing road safety. Collaborating with strategic partners, Fujairah Police aims to align speed limits with the specific road designs.

Their primary objectives include ensuring the safety of road users, promoting the smooth flow of traffic, reducing accidents, minimizing loss of life, and encouraging responsible vehicle usage. Ultimately, these measures strive to provide safe access for all road users in the Emirates.
