The UAE announces the imposition of new fines for reckless driving violations up to Dh20,000

Ahmed Moawad - | UAE

Ras Al Khaimah Police in the United Arab Emirates announced the imposition of new laws for traffic violations that will be effectively implemented at the beginning of next March. These violations will reach 20,000 thousand dirhams, in addition to vehicle impoundment.

Ras Al Khaimah Police in the UAE imposed new fines for reckless driving violations, up to the impoundment of the car, and an amount of up to $5,445 must be paid to release the impounded cars.

The new traffic regulations, which go into effect on March 1, boost release costs and the amount of days a car can be held for violating traffic laws.

The police stated on Monday that the measure is intended to improve road safety and prevent reckless driving in the emirate.

Drivers are fined for any road traffic infringement in the UAE, and depending on the severity, their vehicles may be confiscated for varying periods of time.

The following is a list of reasons why your automobile may be detained in Ras Al Khaimah, as well as the fees associated with its release.

  • Participating in road races without or with a falsified number plate carries a 120-day jail sentence and a 20,000-dirham fine.
  • Participating in road racing without a Ras Al Khaimah Police permission carries a 90-day imprisonment and a 10,000-dirham fine.
  • Participating in an unlawful procession: imprisonment for 15 to 120 days and a fine of 10,000 dirhams.
  • Anyone who undertakes labor that puts people's lives in danger will be imprisoned for 120 days and fined 10,000 dirhams.
  • Modifying a vehicle to enhance speed and noise – 60 days imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 dirhams.
  • Driving a recreational motorbike or quad bike on a paved road: 90 days imprisonment and a fine of 3,000 dirhams.
  • Driving a vehicle creating significant levels of pollution: impoundment for 30 days and a fine of 3,000 dirhams.

If the driver is arrested again within one year, the booking time and release charge will be quadrupled.
