The UAE, represented by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, announced four conditions for granting green residency to a skilled worker.
“Identity and Nationality” stated that the authority has the right to grant a foreign worker a residence permit to work without a guarantor - an employer in the country - if he is a skilled worker, in accordance with the professional classification and standards approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship stated that to issue a green residence permit for a skilled foreign worker, the following requirements must be met:
The worker must obtain a work permit in the country under a valid employment contract in the country.
He must be a skilled worker at the first, second, or third professional level of the occupation classification approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
The minimum educational level of the worker must be a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
The worker’s monthly salary must not be less than 15 thousand dirhams or its equivalent in foreign currencies.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has restricted both private sector establishments and employers from employing any individuals who do not hold work permits approved by the Ministry, even if the employment is on a trial basis, whether in establishments or as auxiliary workers.
“Human Resources and Emiratisation” warned: “It is not permissible to employ a violating worker for the purpose of probation to change his status, as anyone who uses work permits for auxiliary workers for purposes other than the designated purpose shall be punished with a fine of not less than 50 thousand dirhams and not more than 200 thousand dirhams.”
