Emirates Airlines announces two flights a week to Canada will begin in April

Ahmed Moawad - | Arab News

The announcement that Emirates Airlines will begin operating daily flights between Dubai and Toronto, Canada, was made public yesterday. The inaugural flight is scheduled to take place on April 20. This choice was chosen due to the fact that there is such a high level of competition for seats on this well used route. This adjustment was made in order to accommodate the growing number of passengers who are interested in travelling along this route. As a result of this change, accommodations have been made.

According to a statement that was released by the airline, the route between Dubai and Toronto is serviced by a double-decker A380 aircraft that has the capacity to transport 491 passengers across its economy, business, and first class seating configurations.

Because Emirates now operates flights on a daily basis between Dubai and Toronto, the airline's capacity on this route has expanded to more than 6,800 seats each week.

The chief commercial officer of Emirates Airlines, Adnan Kazim, referred to the new development as a "very important step" for the company. He said this in reference to the new development.

The growth of the aviation and tourist industries in both the UAE and Canada are reasons to celebrate the expansion of the air services agreement, Kazim said in a statement.

Moreover, he said, "We have been serving our customers between Dubai and Toronto since 2007, and although we have been operating the giant A380 on this route since 2009, the demand arising from tourism, business travelers, immigrant communities, and students constantly exceeds the allocated capacity."

To further elaborate, Kazim said, "There is no doubt that this enhanced agreement marks a turning point in our strategy to better serve our customers, by offering more options and flexibility, and to meet demand across our growing network."

He emphasised the UAE's increasing importance to Canada's international communications and the growth of trade relations between the two countries over the years, noting that the expansion of air services will help boost business and trade.

UAE-Canada flights

Canada’s Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra, announced the conclusion of an expanded air transport agreement, noting that the UAE is Canada’s largest air transport market in the Middle East.

The additional flight allowance will facilitate new routes, and give airlines greater flexibility to accommodate changes in market demand.

Canada’s air transport agreement with the UAE was concluded in 1999, expanded in 2018, and again in April 2023.

Omar Alghabra, Canada’s Minister of Transport, said: “This expansion of the Canada-United Arab Emirates air transport agreement will improve Canada’s international connectivity and enhance people-to-people and commercial links. This is good news for tourism and the creation of good middle-class jobs for Canadians.”

Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, said: “Canada and the United Arab Emirates have a broad and deep relationship rooted in strong people-to-people ties, and trade and investment connections.”

Emirates wasted no time in announcing new flights from the UAE to Canada.

On Friday it announced it will operate daily flights to Toronto, Canada, starting April 20.

The state-backed airline will add two additional flights per week between Dubai and Toronto to serve the “huge demand for passenger services,” a statement by Emirates said.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates chief commercial officer, said: “We have been serving customers between Toronto and Dubai since 2007, and although the double-decker A380 aircraft has been operating the route since 2009, demand arising from leisure and corporate travellers, diaspora and students has consistently outstripped the allocated capacity.
