Urgent.. Statement regarding confirmed travel reservations to Dubai

Abdallah Shahin - | Arab News

Based on data collected during the month of May, the "Forward Keys" group, which specializes in travel analytics, determined that confirmed reservations for airline tickets to Dubai increased by 34% during the summer season between June and August 2023, compared to the same period last year. Noting that these figures emphasise the quickening of the sector's recovery over the past few months, the author explains.

Family group travel to Dubai:

The group added to «Emirates Today» that «Dubai continues to attract large numbers of tourists, and when looking at the categories of passengers, it turns out that family groups of three to five members are the most popular to travel to Dubai, and this category has accelerated the recovery».

And "Forward Keys" continued: "Family group travel to Dubai is expected to increase substantially compared to last year, and by 1% compared to 2019 during the summer season (June-August), which is higher than pre-pandemic levels (Covid-19)».

Business travel to Dubai:

She explained, "Given the purpose of travel for passengers arriving in Dubai during the summer of this year, between June and August 2023, business travel will also experience significant growth compared to 2023 rates."

2021 and 2022, and at a rate that exceeds levels before the pandemic in 2019.

Comparatively to other GCC destinations, the rate of hotel stays in Dubai in 2022 was above average, highlighting the emirate's allure as a global tourist destination.

A specialist in travel analytics, "Forward Keys," revealed in a study that since Dubai reopened its doors to international air traffic in July 2020, visitors to the emirate have, on average, stayed longer.

She disclosed that the proportion of air travelers in "premium" travel classes to the emirate increased by three percentage points in 2022, noting that the relative increase in the number of wealthy travelers was driven by groups, including families with an average of three to five visitors, as well as couples.

She emphasized that the attractiveness and growth of Dubai as a tourist destination are not only reflected in the high number of hotel nights occupied by visitors but also extend to the quality of visitors who are spending more money on average.

It is noteworthy that Dubai received 4.67 million international visitors during the first quarter of 2023, compared to 3.97 million visitors during the same period in 2022, an increase of 17% year-on-year, within the best quarterly performance of the city since the pandemic, confirming its progress towards achieving its goal of becoming the world's most visited destination.
